Aleksandra Zee is a California-born artist and designer with a degree in Fine Arts. Working primarily in wood from her studio in the Mojave Desert, her practice spans wall works, freestanding forms, and light sculptures.

Her work is rooted in nature and the experience of living in the desert, an environment alive with subtle movement and seasonal change. Its slower pace allows for close observation, shaping her approach to material, form, and the act of making.

Natural light is an ongoing collaborator in Zee’s practice. Its harshness and softness, shifting throughout the day and across the seasons, reveal different aspects of each sculpture. Wood and light give shape to one another, extending the work beyond its physical edges through shadow.

Zee creates original works and private commissions, and shares her woodworking practice through workshops at her studio and other locations.
